Virginia Medical Centre current COVID-19 information:
It is our number one priority to ensure that we are doing the best we can to prevent anyone, whether a patient, a Doctor, staff member or visitor being exposed to Covid-19.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with these procedures and policies and aim to keep this information page updated as the situation unfolds.
Telehealth (First point of care)
Our practice has implemented an initial Telehealth appointment as first point of care.
A time slot will be booked with a GP and they will call you for a phone consult at the allocated time. The Doctor will advise during this call if they require you to attend the clinic to be seen face to face.
Telehealth is Bulk Billed to Medicare to all existing patients who have attended our clinics in the past 12 months in person. If you do not meet these criteria, a fee will apply.
Face to Face (In-Person appointment)
If you are attending the practice in person, you will no longer be required to call the practice upon arrival. Please enter the practice with a face mask to check in with our reception staff and follow any screening questions.
Please still aim to arrive as close to your appointment time as possible (unless our staff instruct you differently) so that your wait will not be prolonged.
You will also be asked to wait outside or in your vehicle if the following applies to you:
- If you have cold or flu-like symptoms including a fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat, fatigue, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, or diarrhoea and vomiting
- If you are waiting for results of a Covid-19 test
- If you are unable to wear a face mask when inside our practice (everyone in a healthcare setting MUST wear a face mask which covers your nose and mouth)
- If our waiting room is at capacity
We apologise for the inconvenience at this time and appreciate your assistance in keeping all of our patients and staff safe
Regardless of your vaccination status; We ask you to NOT ENTER our practices if you:
- Have cold or flu-like symptoms including a fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat, fatigue, loss of taste and/or smell and shortness of breath.
- Are waiting on your result for a Covid-19 test
- You are unable to wear a face mask and do not have an exemption letter
Managing cold and flu symptoms (including either a fever, cough, runny nose, sore throat, loss of taste/smell or shortness of breath)
Before a face to face appointment, we recommend all patients experiencing any of the above symptoms to have a COVID-19 test to ensure they are COVID-19 negative. Patients that have a negative COVID-19 Test within 72 hours of their recent symptoms will be able to be booked in for a Face-to-Face Carpark Consult. We will ask you to please bring confirmation of your negative test (usually an SMS confirmation) for your doctor to view.
Masks are mandatory
If you have a mask exemption, please produce this to the receptionist so we can record this on your file for future visits. You will be required to wait outside or in your vehicle.
Please ensure you wear your mask correctly so that it covers your nose and mouth. Your mask must remain on for the duration of your time inside our clinics.
Pathology
Please take a number and remain outside of the clinic to wait to be called in.
* Please note:
At this present time, not all of our Doctors will be available for face to face consultations. If you would like to know if your usual Doctor is still seeing patients in person, please contact our reception.
